Our Story

IHB's founding in early 2017 was rooted in the fear and panic created by the 2016 election outcomes and the deep belief that the actions of regular citizens offer the greatest protection for our democracy. We have gone from 20 anxious neighbors gathered in a Highlands living room trying to figure out how to "resist the Trump agenda" to a force of 1,200 community members across New Castle County. We work year-round on a range of goals in support of our mission.
